US secretary of state gets together with Swiss chiefs for tariff discussions
According to the State Department, the discussions focused on maintaining a “fair and balanced” trade relationship that serves American interests, while also reaffirming both nations’ commitment to strengthening defense cooperation.
Keller-Sutter wrote on X that the meeting covered bilateral cooperation, the tariff dispute, and broader international issues.
The talks took place as Switzerland seeks to avoid a looming 39% US tariff on key exports—such as watches, machinery, and chocolate—scheduled to take effect Thursday.
